Paying for Your Surgery

When considering surgeon's, be sure to ask your prospective surgeon's office whether your procedure will be covered by your insurance.

As gender reassignment procedures may be considered reconstructive procedures, it's possible that they may be covered, or partially covered, by health insurance in some cases.

If you learn your surgery will not be covered by your insurance, inquire with your surgeon's office about financing plans. Many plastic surgeon practices do offer these.

For point of comparison, Dr. Mundinger’s Office Policy: Our surgical team advocates for insurance authorization no matter a patient’s insurance status for all transgender procedures. If we are unsuccessful in securing insurance coverage for your procedures, we have several options for non-insurance payment, including cash pay, payment plans, and plastic surgery care credit.
